Sa Dec is one of the most important cities in the Mekong Delta. This lovely town still has many houses or villas with colonial architecture reminiscent of the French presence in Indochina.

The capital of Dong Thap is Cao Lanh city, yet Sa Dec is popularly known as its centre. Sa Dec is the town where the famous novelist Marguerite Duras spent her adolescence from 1928 to 1932 and wrote “The Lover”.

Known as “the garden of Cochinchina”, Sa Dec is very famous for its horticulture industry. Its soil is suitable for all kinds of domestic and exotic flowers to flourish. The garden is blooming year round and beautiful bonsais adorn its vibrant atmosphere.

The house and the school where her mother taught are major attractions in the city. The house of her lover, Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, is also interesting to discover for the gorgeous furniture inside.
It is also possible to visit Sa Dec with a bike ride on scenic trails to get to the house of Mr. Sau Khanh who has an interesting collection of antiques, especially old porteries.
